Merula Smith

Founder

Merula entered the mysterious world of translating and interpreting in 1976 when she started her own company in a tiny office rented from her old boss with only the yellow pages, a typewriter, a phone, a pad and pen to keep her company.

In 1983, International Translated Limited was born and Merula has enjoyed bossing everyone about since. With an impressive career spanning across 40 years, Merula has translated more words than she could possibly count and has been sent all over the world on interpreting assignments for global companies, even speaking to the president of Niger once to tell him off for not finishing his dinner!

When she’s not working, Merula can be found having her cheeky evening G&T and trying to beat the Eggheads on BBC2.
